  Hey all can't seem to find any info on how long it lasts?
  
  Also does resetting a device make it invisible till used again? And is it at all possible tracing a device once it has been reset?

  there is specific new player protection only until they have completed one successful hack (which you do as part of the tutorial) - so not long at all. However, players are in different ranks and ranks are arranged in zones, so people in a higher zone can not hack you.
  
  when you reNAME a device it is completely removed from the game and you get a new one. So it is not possible to find the new one until you do something with it to reveal it.

  Actually, it is possible to start a hack, and stop it during the tutorial, click on a random message, start another take control hack, and stop it to not have any successful hacks. You can therefore keep newbie protection for ~7 days if you refrain from hacking.
