So, I'm a little confused about what all is involved in taking control of someone's devices, having someone take control of mine, and what can be done about it all.

I understand cracking the mail to get a nice little list of devices and all, and spying, and then doing a take control, but then I get a bit confused.

I took control of someone's device but lost it again a little while later. What did I need to do to hang on to it? Also, I've lost two devices to others, what do I need to do to get them back and how can I prevent this in the future?

You may have lost the device you took control of for a number of reasons. If it is forced offline for any reason, a device's control reverts back to its owner.

So, you may have lost the device you hacked because the owner forced it offline, because somebody did a hack to force it offline, somebody hacked it to take control, or if you were hacking with it and it failed and was forced offline.

The devices you've lost, you should be able to force them offline. Although it does not happen instantly as if you had them in your control. Once you force them offline you will see a countdown to when it'll happen.

To prevent it from happening, you can try to put hack defense tech on your devices, although if I remember right, its determined when the hack is initiated what tech is used on each device.

If you detect a hack happening, you can also force the device offline, interrupting the incoming attack.

Many thanks for that. Is the force offline time for devices that have been stolen supposed to be around 1-2 days?

I think thats about right. I know theres a bug associated with them sometimes showing 12-13 days. Not sure if its just a display bug, or if it actually takes that long.

Think the intent of 1-2 day offline timeframe is that you can always get your devices back, but you'll get them back quicker if you can hack them to force them offline or take control of them.

Ah, so you can hack back your own devices then? That's cool.
