Help - Crack an Event
Help index
Why crack?
By cracking an event, you will:
- Gain the money being carried by a money transfer event
- Be able to read a mail message that was not sent to you and find out about objects (e.g. devices or signals) that are attached to it
What events can I crack?
You can only crack events that you know about. You find out about events by using your devices to drop channels, or by reading a message to which a signal has been attached.
If you look at the World tab the signals & events page shows a list of all the events you know. Filter options are available to refine the list you are looking at. For example there are different types of event (mail, money, dropper sweep) and some events will be happening right now, others may not be due to start until later.
Every signal associated with an event reveals a vulnerability that the event possesses and which you can exploit in order to crack that event. To crack an event you must choose a crack technology that can exploit the vulnerability the event possesses.
How do I crack?
- Click on device tab and find a device that is idle (online unassigned)
- Click on the crack link next to that device
- If there is no crack tech installed on the device you will have to follow the links to do that first
- Click on the link to select an event to crack
- Choose the event you want to crack
- Choose one of the crack technologies installed on the device. Make sure the crack technology exploits the vulnerability possessed by the target event.
- Click on start crack
- Wait for the crack to finish
- Note that if you start a crack against an event and the crack is scheduled to finish AFTER the event ends, then the crack will fail when the event ends. You must make sure the event you are cracking has long enough to run to enable the crack to finish.
